GOP campaign chief: Gibson won't be outworked

Richard Dunham writes at Capitol Confidential congressman Chris Gibson could face a well-financed Democrat in his next campaign, according to the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee. However, said Rep. Greg Walden of Oregon, the second-term incumbent won’t be outworked. He said Gibson is “a blue-collar Republican. He’s earned everything he’s gotten in life.” Democrat Sean Eldridge, president of the investment fund Hudson River Ventures and husband of Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes, has filed documents with the Federal Election Commission paving the way for a challenge in 2014. Of Eldridge, Walden said, “He’s worth a lot of dough. You’ve got to respect that.” He said Gibson’s work ethic more than compensates for his opponent’s wealth.
