Schumer, Gillibrand vote to convict Trump; Senate acquits
Feb 06, 2020 12:57 am
The U.S. Senate voted mostly on partisan lines Feb. 5 to acquit the President of the United States in the impeachment trial. Republican Mitt Romney became the first Senator in a Presidential impeachment history to cross party lines with his vote to convict Donald Trump on the Abuse of Power article. New York Senators, Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, both Democrats, voted to convict Trump. Locally, The Daily Freeman reports that more than 150 people protested the impeachment verdict at a "Reject The Cover-Up" rally Feb. 5 in Kingston.
