Wallkill fire chief removed after posting inappropriate remarks on Facebook

MidHudsonNews [dot] com is reporting the chief in the Washington Heights Fire Department in Wallkill, Ulster Co., has been removed from duty following remarks he posted on his personal Facebook page. Chuck Healy called protesters “pavement apes,” a comment the fire department said was “insensitive and inappropriate at a time when all people should be unified against hate and discrimination,” according to a post on the department’s Facebook page. The post went on to say the members of the fire department are embarrassed about the comment and assured the community that Healy's remarks do not reflect the views of the Washington Heights firefighters.
