Groundhog says six more weeks of winter

Feb 03, 2015 12:02 am
The Associated Press is reporting the weather-prognosticating groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, has forecast six more weeks of winter. The “forecast” was announced early Mon., Feb. 2. A German legend has it that if a furry rodent sees his shadow on Feb. 2, winter will last another six weeks. If not, spring comes early. In reality, Phil’s prediction is decided ahead of time by the Inner Circle on Gobbler’s Knob, the tiny hill located in the town for which he is named about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
