PEF loses surveillance camera complaint

Apr 11, 2015 12:03 am
Rick Karlin is reporting in the Times Union the union representing state Department of Environmental Conservation employees lost its grievance regarding surveillance cameras. The union alleged the cameras were being used like time clocks. The agency that hears such complaints ruled that the cameras were properly used to substantiate charges that a pair of employees were stealing time, or charging for hours when they were not in the office. The grievance was filed last year by the Public Employees Federation, which represents the workers. The union now has the option of moving to arbitration with an outside entity.
