Committee OKs funds for metal detectors

Joe Gentile is reporting in the Register Star the Columbia County Board of Supervisors Finance Committee has approved the funds to purchase metal detectors for the county’s Department of Social Services. Supervisors voted unanimously to buy a walk-through metal detector and a hand-held metal detector wand at a recent meeting. Department Commissioner Paul Mossman convinced the board’s Human Services Committee of the urgency last month, after a woman was assaulted inside the department's office. Plans are also under way to outfit the county Department of Human Services with bulletproof glass partitions inside its Hudson and Valatie offices.  Read the full story in the Register Star.
