Swimming for charity in Hudson

Amanda Purcell reports for Columbia-Greene Media that swimmers jumping into Hudson's Oakdale Lake raised over $14,000 to the Hudson Water Rescue and Scuba Team, and the city’s Youth Department, at the second annual Hudson Polar Plunge Feb. 23. The Hudson Water Rescue and Scuba Team had to cut a rectangular section of ice out of the lake to let the swimmers get access to water. Michael Molinski, of Molinski Photography in Hudson stayed in the water for longer than anyone else, for five minutes. “It’s amazing to see all these people come out and support the Youth Department,” said Youth Director Nick Zachos, who also got all wet on Saturday.
