Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo Tue., Jun. 21, announced the distribution of $30.2 million in casino license fees to 22 counties. In the Catskills/Hudson Valley region, six counties shared $5.1 million based on population: Columbia County will receive $318,000 and Greene County will receive $248,000. "This funding will help counties and local governments provide essential services to their residents as well as work to reduce their tax burden," Cuomo said in a released statement. The county payouts are one portion of the commercial casino license fees being distributed across upstate. Under the Upstate New York Gaming and Economic Development Act of 2013, 80 percent of the funds will be applied statewide for school aid and property tax relief.
