Deer hunting season, at least the early bowhunting season with a crossbow, opens Sat. Oct. 1 and continues through Nov. 18. The regular hunting season for the DEC's "Southern Region" that includes the Catskills, begins Nov. 19. Also, a youth firearms season opens Oct. 8. And several small game hunting seasons open October 1, with wild turkey hunting starting in the Adirondacks then, and beginning Oct. 15 here in the "Southern Zone."
