Yoga for Gardening with Pamela Martin at the Mountain Top Arboretum.

Sessions run Wednesdays from June 11- October 8; Class is from 3:15-4:15 (feel free to join us beforehand for volunteer gardening!)

You're welcome to join us for outdoor* yoga classes led by Pamela Martin and other local yoga teachers. Learn tips and tricks to avoid injury, and to help support the body during gardening and yard work. A stretch and strength class appropriate for multiple levels. Please bring a mat, water, sunscreen and bug spray. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in.

* in case of inclement weather, sessions will take place indoors in the Education Center.

This program starts just after our garden volunteering ends. Please feel free to join us for volunteer gardening.

Turn out on Thursday, September 25th at 7pm Upstairs at the Avalon Lounge for the next edition of “Breaking the Algorithm IRL,” a new monthly series presented by Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM as part of our Local Waves initiative and the show "Local Waves in Conversation." Part conversation led by Mike Amari of Chosen Family and part DJ set by a WGXC volunteer, the series highlights local artists, musicians, venue owners and bookers, and record label owners. This month’s event features a discussion with Adriana Tampasis, a Hudson Valley-based composer, performer, and poet. She has composed for solo, chamber, and large ensemble groups, integrating traditional and nontraditional notations including narrative and graphic scores into her compositions. Her work is inspired by the fusion of jazz, chamber, and literary arts, employing both improvisation and through-composition. She has recently held a residency at Westben Centre for Connection & Creativity as a Performer-Composer and is currently recording an album with her jazz-fusion quartet, Pocket Merchant.

An evening with acclaimed translator and author, Suzanne Jill Levine, to celebrate her new book, Unfaithful: A Translator’s Memoir. The book offers affectionate and candid portrayals of prominent Latin American authors, including Manuel Puig, Carlos Fuentes, and Guillermo Cabrera Infante. Levine connects her personal journey, reflecting on her bisexuality as having an important connection to her identity as a translator, with the creative process of translating complex works. Light refreshments served.

Stephen Bluhm celebrates his 40th birthday with a set of chamber pop songs from Out of the Nowhere Into the Here and synth pop songs with live band (featuring Andrew Stein on drums and Ethan Kelly Renner on bass). To open, a mix of local music scene luminaries like Liam Singer and Alex Daud (Fascinating Chimera Project) cover Brian Wilson songs.

We will start at the Winter Clove Inn in Round Top, NY. This hike will take us to Rip’s Rock, a stunning lookout of the Hudson Valley and the site where legendary Rip Van Winkle slept for 20 years. Along the way we will pass the Bareback Brook, Daisy Field, pristine forest and Indian Lookout which offers another great view. After the hike, for those interested, we will stop at Old Factory Brewing Company in Cairo to quench our thirst.
