Columbia County Pathways to Recovery, in partnership with state Sen. Michelle Hinchey, will host a Narcan (naloxone) training at the park's pavilion. Participants will learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of an opioid overdose and how to properly administer Narcan, a fast-acting medication that can be used to temporarily reverse the effects of an overdose. Participants will receive a Narcan emergency kit to take home. Registration is not necessary. Open to the public.

Summer Reading is a national celebration of books and readers that goes on all summer long. This year’s theme is “All Together Now” and the Hudson Area Library has ton of free community-centered events, giveaways, and activities planned for readers of all ages. Stop by the library to pick up your calendar of events and a reading log. Check out the link below for the full line up.
Three site-specific new works will be presented as a roving performance with audiences traveling by car to each secret location to experience these self-contained plays in environments that enhance their stories. The Ancram Opera House has commissioned two new works: one by Mukta Phatak, featuring Abuzar Farrukh, and another by New York-based cabaret artist, writer, and actor Salty Brine. The event will also premier a work by playwright and poet Barbara Wiechmann. At each play location, blankets and some seating will be provided. Audiences are also welcome to bring their own seating, if preferred, or to stand. All three plays are presented at each show. Audience capacity is limited. The performance times are Thursday (Aug. 17) and Friday (Aug. 18) at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.; Saturday (Aug. 19) and Sunday (Aug. 20) at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. Note: the 5 p.m., Saturday show includes dinner. Taking place at Crellin Park in celebration of Crellin Park Day, the Guinean troupe – nine acrobats, dancers, and musicians – perform FA, their moving, personal story of migration and the quest for education and opportunity that brought them from the streets of Conakry to Europe and beyond. A collaboration between the performers and artistic director Anthony Weiss, FA is part of PS21 PATHWAYS and will be co-presented with the Town of Chatham on Crellin Park Day. The performance is free, to encourage broad-based community attendance. Amoukanama (“What doesn’t break persists” in the Susu language of Guinea, Mali, and Sierra Leone) wowed audiences at America’s Got Talent in 2022 and continues to delight crowds at home and on tour throughout Europe.

Atabeya: A spicy blend of roots music with a fresh outlook. Pulling influence from many styles of the diaspora of the Americas and West Africa including Haitian Jazz, Cumbia, Afro-Beat, Bachata, Saharan Blues mixed with Funk and psychedelic sounds.
DJ - Shaman Vybez: "[Shaman's] sets are a mix of some of his earlier influences with a few surprises. A vibrational blend of Latin, AfroBeats,House and Funk that will keep you dancing all night. If he’s not in the studio creating, you can bet he’s spinning for the masses this weekend."

Floral designer and sustainable flower farmer Ariella Chezar will offer a floral design demonstration the eve of Dewey Hall's first ever Dahlia Festival. Ariella has done flowers for events throughout the world. She has written three books, and been featured in numerous articles. Her free flowing organic style has had an influence across the event world. Her books are: "Flowers for the Table", "Seasonal Flower Arranging", and "The Flower Workshop". Chezar's Zonneveld Farm is located in Columbia County. This evening will feature a floral demonstration by Chezar, and will include a celebration of the Dahlia. The arrangement/s will be auctioned off the next day (Sunday, September 17) at the Dahlia Festival. Winners to be announced around 3:30.
The workshop, auction, and all other Dahlia Festival activities go to support the operation and preservation of the historic Dewey Hall, a center for culture and community in Sheffield, MA.
