The Hudson Area Library and the City of Hudson Senior Center are offering a 12-week Creative Writing class, taught by author, artist, educator, and social activist Maureen McNeil. Held weekly on Thursdays from September 20 through December 13, the series runs from 2:30 to 4pm. Students will explore memories, sensory observation, dreams, autobiography, fiction, and poetry, and will share a selection of their work. All levels of writers are welcome. A zine of student work will be available at the library and on the library’s website, and a final celebration of student writing will be held in the library on December 13.
Hudson Area Library, in collaboration with NYS DanceForce member Elena Mosley and Kuumba Dance & Drum, presents a three day tween performance and media program intensive: "Digital Dancing" with teaching artist, choreographer & dancer Adam H. Weinert. The program consists of repertory and creative movement workshops integrated with Augmented Reality technology in the form of a mobile app created specifically for this project. Join Mud Creek Environmental Learning Center, for a morning of birding around Mud Creek as the birds begin their fall migration. All skill levels are welcome. A pair of binoculars is strongly encouraged as a limited number of binoculars will be available for participants. The walk is a rain or shine event.

The GHPN works to support children and families in the Hudson City School District from birth through college to career. This program meets Saturdays from 11am to 1pm beginning Sept. 29, ending Oct. 27. Families with a child from birth to age five, can join a supportive community and learn fun activities to help build their child’s reading skills. Older siblings are welcome during the program. The library’s Minecraft Club, where kids and teens get to play and fight together on our special servers, is back to its after-school and Saturday sessions. Explore, gather resources, and survive against monsters that creep, crawl, and explode! These club meetings are Wednesdays 3:30–5 p.m. beginning September 5, led by our Tech Services and Reference Librarian, Paul Costa, and Saturdays Noon–2 p.m. beginning September 29, with Sonia Ruscoe, artist and game enthusiast based in Hudson. The Dutchess County Division of Solid Waste Management is working to increase recycling within the county. They will offer an interactive after-school educational program for children. They have been focused on helping schools and community groups increase the amount of materials they recycle by providing recycling presentations. The program involves teaching ways to increase recycling, the typical items that can be recycled, why we should recycle, and how to promote recycling and waste reduction in our daily lives. The goal is getting citizens excited about the benefits of recycling and waste reduction. Happens in the East Room.

Figure From Ground are an experimental music quartet based in northern (Canton/Malone) NY. Claude Aldous, Ola Aldous, Michael Hart, and Ramon Vasquez began working together in the summer of 2017, creating and documenting improvised soundscapes using modular synthesizers, prepared and effected piano, contact microphones, found objects, and voice. The group has been played on CKCU’s Acoustic Frontiers radio program in Ottawa, Canada, on multiple occasions and recently released an album on the Athens, Greece, based Game of Life Label.
