The public is invited to submit entries to Mud Creek Birds, a juried photography competition and exhibition highlighting the Mud Creek Environmental Learning Center. The festival explores various genres of music, and the contrasts, influences and relationships between them. Whether hearing a new voice, or exploring a unique rhythm or instrument, the festival hopes to bridge the gap between diverse styles creating a distinctive offering of musical experiences.

For students entering into grades K-6. This 4-session artist-led program includes interactive tours through the Wassaic Project Summer Exhibition and hands-on creative activities inspired by works on view. Kids look, discuss, and explore in the Maxon Mill galleries through scavenger hunts, observational drawing, and gallery conversations. Artistic projects are developed in relation to the works on display. The program culminates in a mini-exhibition and reception for participating families.

Drones or UAV’s (unmanned aerial vehicles) have become ubiquitous objects and their use has been restricted, expanded, aestheticized, embraced by agriculture and for art. But what is the effect of this new device? The rise of drones has already been compared with the early days of the Internet along with similar legal issues, confusion and competing interests.

Through a range of works this event will look at this device and its implications by utilizing Drones as carriers of messages or actors in performances. Some works will use lights on the Drones in the sky and some works will project light from the Drone to the ground below. Some works will incorporate sound and transmission and others will look at the threatening effect of this eye in the sky. A four-hour class devoted to teaching how to begin, and continue, to carve a wooden spoon. Covered in the class are the basics of wood identification; as well as the layout, carving and finishing a hardwood wooden spoon. Learn about carving technique, and hopefully, by the end of the class, participants will leave with a spoon of their own making, as well as the wood, skills and tools necessary to start another spoon. Participants should specify their dominant hand at application.

In 1954 Marilyn Monroe visited a friend in Claverack to escape New York City and the break-up of her marriage to Joe DiMaggio. She stayed with a friend at a home that has come to be known as “The Marilyn Monroe House”. On Sunday, July 29 at 3 PM, Claverack resident Maureen McNeil will read from her new book, "Dear Red," the Lost Diary of Marilyn Monroe (a work of fiction) in the garden of the house, 361 State Route 23B. The reading will be followed by refreshments and a tour of the first floor of the house led by present owner Julius James. This free program, sponsored by the Claverack Free Library, illuminates the final year of the life of America’s greatest sex symbol and offers a glimpse of Claverack history. Hudson resident Kim Bach shares stories and images from two 3-week sojourns to join the thousands of pilgrims each year who challenge themselves on El Camino de Santiago. Sharing space each night in local hostels, sharing tables in the evening with other travelers, voicing a "buen camino" to each walker as she passed (or was passed), Bach describes an adventure that many desire, but few achieve.
