Incubations is an evening of three works-in-progress by writer/performance artist/filmmaker Andrea Kleine: The Life of A Rabbit (a book), A Tree Eats A Rock (a performance), and We Want To Be Ready (a microbudget feature film). Each piece is about nature and personal horrors and the weirdness of performing. Maybe they are all the same piece. Featuring music by Bobby Previte on a 1980s synthesizer he found at the dump.

This event is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. A Tree Eats A Rock was developed in part during a Baryshnikov Arts Residency, taking place at Baryshnikov Arts Center, New York, NY.

Andrea Kleine is a novelist, performance artist, and filmmaker. Her recent evening-length performances were commissioned by New York Live Arts and The Chocolate Factory Theater. Her feature-length nonfiction film, The End Is Not What I Thought It Would Be, created in isolation during the pandemic, premiered at the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival and is currently streaming. She is the author of the novels EDEN (HMH/Mariner, 2018), a finalist for the 2018 Publishing Triangle Award for LGBTQ fiction; and CALF (Soft Skull Press, 2015), a Publishers Weekly Best Fiction Book of 2015. She lives in Claverack, NY.
