P.G. Six art show

Aug 14, 2005: 2pm- 7pm
Abaton Gallery

The Sherman Box Series & Other Works: Christine Krol/P.G. Six at Abaton Gallery Christine Krol exhibits a collection of miniatures–small paintings and an ongoing series of collages constructed in Nat Sherman cigarette boxes. The imagery comes from all manner of printed matter. Old textbook illustrations, depicting a nostalgic, cheerful Americana, or a hopeful science, envisioning the future, find company with fragments from Byzantine, Medieval, and contemporary art. Space, time and history exist simultaneously, in strange relationships, as in the unconscious, or as in dreamlife. Pat Gubler (a.k.a. P.G. Six) provides the audio component of the show–a series of pieces for wire harp and bray harp, played on a loop in the space. These pieces can also be considered miniatures. They are structured improvisations based around "The Fallen Leaves that Jewel the Ground" from his first full length recording, "Parlor Tricks and Porch Favorites." They explore different techniques and make use of electronic processing. Opening, Sunday, August 14th 2-7pm with a live performance by P.G. Six Abaton Gallery Jersey City, NJ
