Clarinetist Rothenberg and electronic musician Robin Rimbaud, aka Scanner, perform music they composed together out of the sounds of nightingales, grasshoppers, crickets, and waves. Scanner has collaborated with artists from every imaginable genre, including Bryan Ferry, Radiohead and Laurie Anderson, Merce Cunningham and the Bolshoi Ballet. David Rothenberg has performed and recorded with Marilyn Crispell, Barry Guy, Hamid Drake, Glen Velez, Karl Berger.
