Petra and Mario combine sound and movement in concerts, installations, objects, performances and in situ projects. They like to use media and data in a surprising way and preferably not in the way they are intended for. Their work has been presented worldwide in museums, churches, in rowing boats, cellars, water towers and on roof tops.
“When there is no movement, there is no sound and vice versa. This is the basis of our creative freedom and richness”.

WAVES is their ongoing research on the “sameness” of movement and sound. They use so called shakers to transpose sound frequencies into vibrations in real time. A shaker, can be connected to the loudspeaker output of a HiFi amplifier and reproduce the sound frequencies by vibrating.

One of the subprojects of WAVES is called Earth WAVES. A metal wire is clipped to the radiator in their studio and is the input of a mixing board. The wire delivers a 50 Hertz “ground” hum, but also (accidentally) serves as an antenna picking up radio signals. Earth and antenna feed the shakers, that vibrate on 50 Hertz and radio signals.

They made recordings where a shaker makes an 8 meter long string in their studio resonate; an acoustic guitar with an electromagnetic pickup and an electric guitar. All the setups use small hooks, metal objects, rods of all kinds of materials and objects placed on the strings as preparation materials. From each setup (8m. string, ac. Guitar, E-guitar) they have 2 recordings; all of them untitled and and are transmitted here for the first time.

Radioart is a subset of Soundart where Radioart is produced for/with the medium of radio and is specifically suited to be broadcasted on air waves. Radioart opens new ways and approaches to radio making, where the listener takes part whether through the intensity of the listening experience or sometimes through their active participation.
