This RAIN Report is dedicated to the late Mitch Schweda/WV9MJS, a long-time Chicago area ham well known for his eccentric conversations. Mitch was blind, loved mathematics and his tool collection. Mitch passed on this week from complications resulting from a serious fall. His cooooooky presence on Chicago area VHF&UHF repeaters will be missed by many. Mitch Schweda/WV9MJS, a silent key. One of the challenges facing many radio clubs today is the divisiveness that has resulted in combining younger and older hams in the same club. It is a generational thing that is widespread in society today. There IS a solution for this; it is called "Build Club." Thanks to Build Club, the North Shore Radio Club on Chicago's north shore is finding considerable interest among its ranks of experienced and newbie hams. The Build Club coordinator for NSRC is Ron Settle/WM9Q. RAIN's Hap Holly/KC9RP spoke with Ron about this innovative but not new concept.
