This monthly program features highlights and commissions from Glasgow art radio station Radiophrenia. Presented in today's episode is Overwhelming Waves by Jeff Gburek and MINUS TARGET by Alias Domaines.

Overwhelming Waves is an essay in radio signal and radio noise. It is a collage of shortwave radio captures recorded by Jeff Gburek at various locations, some spanning 25 years, recomposed & combined with an spoken word commentary about the meaning of this listening process, the relationship of the earth to the ionosphere and the electro-magnetic resonance of the planet reflected in radio waves where the individual listener is a creative participant, an electroreceptor and transmitter of consciousness. References include Pauline Oliveros, Thomas Ashcraft and Douglas Kahn.

Commissioned for Radiophrenia 2020 with the support of Creative Scotland. http://transparent-abelard.blogspot.com https://jeffgburekprojects.bandcamp.com

MINUS TARGET is a sound work by Alias Domaines, a collaborative cross-Atlantic project between Sukaina Kubba and Craig Mulholland; and was originally presented at From Glissant Unfixed and Unbounded at the Art Gallery of Ontario, 2019, with support from Elegoa Productions.    MINUS TARGET follows a day in the life of Beverley Valenzuela, concierge of a cross-Atlantic ocean liner.  The boat takes an unforeseen southern turn due to a hostile weather environment, and stalls at Global Coordinates:  2.904111, -33.123889 (2° 54' 14.8" N, 33° 7' 26" W) “It's only water around, but I think you can handle it.” www.sukainakubba.com www.craigmulholland.com
