Hosted by the Prison Voices Project Media Collective.

New York State has some of the harshest approaches to young people who commit crimes in the country, allowing teenagers as young as 13 to be given adult-level penalties. Tune in to hear about the effects of these laws, including the stories of a young person who spent several years incarcerated at a residential facility in Claverack, and a parent of a young person who has spent most of his adolescence behind bars. During this show, you will learn more about the ways that New York's juvenile justice laws work, how they punish young people, and what you can do to help these laws to change. This will re-air an edited version of the program produced by pvp collaborators Jeremy Thal and Alexandra Cox, that aired in August of 2011. Hear coverage of Hudson's International Dinner- and the focus on Prisons and the Criminal Justice system and a special focus on Juvenile Justice. Speakers include Carline Murphy, Caroloyn Polikarpus from the Re-enty Task Force of Columbia County, Joanie Hunt, a volunteer in the Alternatives to Violence program, Jacinta Keith, Quintin Cross and Cedrick Fulton from the Staley B Keith Social Justice Center.
