In this broadcast, a conversation with Benjamin Morse, Hebrew scholar, art historian and the author of The Bible Beautiful, a series of illustrated children’s books of Bible stories. The idea for the books came to him when his husband’s friends in South Africa made them godparents to their daughter who was Xhosa. Morse decided to make a book of Bible stories for her in which she could see herself. Morse discusses his books, the wisdom tradition in Western thought, the book of Job, Christmas and how the religious right in the U.S. has hijacked Christianity.
