At noon, renown West Coast blogger, sitcom-writer and baseball radio announcer Ken Levine will call in to give his take on why radio matters. Levine is an Emmy winning writer/director/producer/major league baseball announcer. In a career that has spanned over 30 years he has worked on "M*A*S*H," "Cheers," "Frasier," "The Simpsons," "Wings," "Everybody Loves Raymond," "Dharma and Greg," and co-created his own series "Almost Perfect" starring Nancy Travis. He and his partner wrote the feature "Volunteers." Levine has also been the radio/TV play-by-play voice of the Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariners, and San Diego Padres. At 1 p.m., guitarst David Malachowski will drop by to perform live on the air. Malachowski is a touring guitarist, producer, musical director, and journalist living in Woodstock, New York. He has toured with multi-platinum artists, Grammy winners, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members, Grand Ole Opry stars, Broadway stars, and some really amazing artists you probably haven’t heard of, including Savoy Brown, Shania Twain, Garth Hudson, Genya Ravan, Gail Ann Dorsey, Ernie Williams and the Woodstock All-Stars. Overwhelming, right? Or maybe just amazing. It's all for the sake of little old WGXC and the spirit of community radio, during WGXC's pledge drive.
