An alien being descends from the sky, seen only by a chosen few. They become transfixed and obsessed with the creature, enduring loss and expulsion by their families and communities. They feel there is a greater cause even if they cannot express it with human understanding. What is the centipede in the sky? Is this invasion or mere hallucination?
