Nuestra Música: “Hablo un poco de Español” (Audio)

Today we are presenting singers and songwriters whose native languages are not Spanish or Portuguese. From France, the United States, Italy, Canada and England.

We start with French singer and songwriter Gilbert Beacaude and his signature song “Por me me dejas?. Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, Rita Pavone, ZZ Top, Nat King Cole, Charles Aznavour, David Byrne, Domenico Modugno, Mina, David Lee Roth, Celine Dion, Matt Monroe and The Young Rascals will follow.

“Nuestra Música,” “Our Music,” presents the rhythms and folklore of Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and Cape Verde. From Tango to Flamenco and all Latinx music in between. The show explores the native instruments, languages, and traditions played in 22 countries and one territory. Other than Spanish and Portuguese, "Nuestra Música" presents songs in Quechua, Mapuche, Guaraní, Nahuatl, Gallego, Spanish Basque, and Catalán. Among many styles we present: Tango, Chacarera, Baguala, Zamba with a Z and Samba with an S, Bossa Nova, Cumbia, Llanero, Vallenato, Merengue, Parrandera, Son, Bolero, Ranchera, Corrido, Marimba, Fado, Flamenco, Sevillanas, Jota, Blues, Jazz, Danzon, Mambo, and many more.
