Modulisme: 20240610 (Audio)
Leo Nilsson was born in 1939 and studied at the State Academy of Music in Stockholm from 1958-62, graduating as organist, soloist instructor, and music teacher. Then, he travelled to Paris to work at the electronic music studio of Radio Télévision Française (RTF) and then to Köln. He has been active as a composer, pianist, organist, and chamber musician, and was one of the very first pioneers of electronic music in Sweden. He has supplied integral electronic music for exhibitions in Paris, Milan, New York, and Tokyo, as well as composing music for film, theater, dance, and television. He composed mainly at Elektron Music Studio (EMS), Fylkingen, Studio Adromeda (with Ralph Lundsten) and in his own Viarp. He had been on the teaching board of the State College of Music in Stockholm from 1982 until he retired.
Here we are offering a retrospective (from 1964 to 1991), which comes right in time to remind us that not only was he ahead of his time but also thought.
