In this broadcast, a conversation with author Michael Sadowski about his memoir, “Men I’ve Never Been,” a coming of age story of the second youngest child in a large working-class family in central New Jersey in the 70s and 80s. It was a different time, especially if you were gay. The story is less about sexuality and more about masculinity: how our culture models it, and the restrictive ways in which we allow boys and men to be, and to express themselves.
