The Radio Art Hour: Talk is Cheap (Audio)
This episode of The Radio Art Hour features Talk is Cheap, a radio broadcast for Zero Art Fair by Jennifer and Kevin McCoy in collaboration with The Seeing Place.
For the July 2024 edition of the Zero Art Fair, an art fair in which viewers can take home art for free, the McCoys along with experimental theater group The Seeing Place presented a microwatt radio program. Radios were placed throughout the rustic barn where the fair was held and viewers carried the radios as they perused the art. The broadcast consisted of collaged sound elements including recordings of the voices of participating artists, music that takes labor or creativity as its theme, and film clips from movies about art or finance. This social practice intervention was a way to consider the ideas of the fair in a broader context and to bring the voices of the participating artists into the space of the exhibition.
