Composer, bassist, improviser Nick Dunston in two performance excerpts from concerts at Roulette: the 2022 trio, Spider Season, featuring Kalia Vandever on trombone/fx and DoYeon Kim on gayageum/voice plus "La Operación: Reverberated" from 2021, reflecting on Puerto Rican justice, with Stephanie Lamprea, voice; Joy Guidry, bassoon; Weston Olencki, trombone/electronics; Anna Webber, sax/flute; and Ches Smith, percussion. A highly valued collaborator (Marc Ribot, Ingrid Laubrock, Tyshawn Sorey, Vijay Iyer) these pieces are described as raw and surrealistic investigations into imagination.
