Nothing Is Real Radio Hour: Somoto Blues Band meets Stick Sellers

Nothing Is Real Radio Hour: Somoto Blues Band meets Stick Sellers. Created by Sam Sebren. (Jun 24, 2019)

Created by Sam Sebren.

For this edition of the Nothing Is Real Radio Hour, creator and host Sam Sebren presents a new remix collage made in a long-distance collaboration between Sebren aka "Stick Sellers” and Nicaraguan experimental music collective, Somoto Blues Band. The artists exchanged audio and created new works of their combined sounds, which are then recombined and remixed by Sebren. Tune in on Friday June 28, 3-4pm and Saturday June 29, 11am - 12pm to hear this new collaboration project, connecting cultures through the universal language of sound.

The Nothing Is Real Radio Hour, created by Sam Sebren broadcasts on WGXC 90.7-FM from 3:00pm to 4:00pm on the fifth Friday and from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the fifth Saturday (of months with 5 Fridays and Saturdays) as part of Wave Farm's Transmission Arts and Experimental Sound programming. The Nothing Is Real Radio Hour includes sound and transmission arts works by Sebren, and occasionally works by other artists, both pre-recorded and performed live in the studio.

In a multidisciplinary practice, much of Sebren's recent work has challenged notions of accepted reality in art, advertising, and public spaces. In mediums including sound, Sebren's work blurs actual, imagined, and technological realities as he critiques socio-political rules & regulations in our consumer "culture" and urges his audience to smile and re-think our priorities.
