Crawl Out from the Fallout: March 2024 - Daisy Rickman, ROY, Blushing (Audio)

Mar 12, 2024

Daisy Rickman - "Signpost To The Stars"
With the gravity of Vashti, Bridget, or modern contemporaries like Grace Cummings, Daisy Rickman prepares a record that winds through the woods, but shakes off the more fragile connotations of folk. A prime example of her emotional impact, “Signpost To The Stars” takes an acoustic ramble and hangs it on the air like dense fog, cut through with the ghosts of her deep and sonorous vocals.

ROY - "Spoons for the World"
Shedding his psychedelic skin, Patrick Lefler opts for a more contemplative countenance on his latest album. ROY delves deep into Fred Neil, Tim Buckley, John Martyn, and F.J. McMahon territory on his latest album, and one of the best of the bunch is the album’s title track, “Spoons For The World.” Nestled in a tangle of acoustic strums, and glowing with a halo of background vocals, the song feels ripped out of time, a contemplative classic that’s bound to find its way to discerning turntables.

Blushing - "Tamagotchi"
Couched in a cloud that’s worthy of Adorable or Ride and wielding a double female vocal like the heirs to the Veruca Salt crown, Austin's Blushing lets loose a single soaked in nostalgia. “Tamagotchi” employs the build and explode formula with ease, winding onto the speakers on spindly strums before the fuzz overtakes the room.
