Coming a day after what would have been composer, bandleader, bassist Charles Mingus’s 97th birthday, host Rob Saffer will play Mingus music from a full spectrum of the artist’s career — from large groups and small, early career and late — and showcase the influence of Duke Ellington and Thelonious Monk on Mingus' career.
