Ceremony at 10 a.m., events all day. Live broadcast on WGXC from 10-10:30 a.m. The Cairo Public Library was founded in 1963 and produced "Children's Storytime" Sundays at 8 a.m. on WGXC. The function of the Cairo Public Library is to provide the Cairo community with access to a balanced collection of books and other materials to serve their educational, cultural and recreational needs. John Gallagher plays bagpipes at 9:30 a.m. before the broadcast part of the event. At 10 a.m., New York State Representative Pete Lopez (R-Schoharie), Rep. Chris Gibson (R-Kinderhook), Greene County Legislator Harry Lennon (D-Cairo), Cairo Town Supervisor Ted Banta (D-Cairo), and others will speak at the grand opening of the new library, and their words will be broadcast on WGXC 90.7-FM. Greg Stewart will also be performing later inside the library, after the broadcast portion of the event.
