WGXC Morning Show: 20190508 (Audio)

May 08, 2019
Sen. Jen Metzger and Asssemblyperson Nily Rozic have introduced a bill to halt new fossil fuel projects in NYS and to set a goal of 100 percent renewable electricity by 2030 if possible. Mark Dunlea of WOOC talks with them and Senators Harckham and May, and Andy Bicking of Scenic Hudson and Jeremy Cherson of Riverkeeper. Plus, WOOC's Dunlea also attends the Women Against War news conference on May 6 to address the issue of how much New York State taxpayers are forced to pay for the military. Joan Thornhill, Maude Easter, and Mabel Leon of WAW; Assemblymember Phil Steck; Veterans for Peace members Dan Wilcox and John Amidon; and Cairo's Mary Finneran are interviewed in this report. And, the show tunes in the public comment portion of the May 7 Catskill Town Board meeting, where residents asked about controversial local housing and firing range projects.

The WGXC Morning Show is a radio magazine show featuring local news, interviews with community leaders and personalities, reports on cultural issues, a rundown of public meetings and local and regional events, with weather updates, and more about and for the community, made mostly through volunteers in the community through WGXC. Some reports come from our partner station, WOOC-LP in Troy, out of The Sanctuary for Independent Media. Tuesdays the show is live from HiLo in Catskill.
