How can we address the root causes of crime, repair the harm that has been caused and restore our communities? Restorative justice is a theory of justice which has the goal of bringing together those most affected by the criminal act—the offender, the victim, and community members—in a nonadversarial process to encourage offender accountability and meet the needs of the victims and offender to repair the harms resulting from the crime (more information below). School Officials, and community members in Hudson, NY are searching for alternatives to incarceration of our youth. They are beginning to explore models of Restorative justice as an alternative to suspensions, PINS (persons in need of supervision) and incarceration.
