Spotlight on “The Cowboy’s Sweetheart,” Patsy Montana (born Ruby Rose Blevins, 1908-1996). The American singer, songwriter, and actress was the first female country performer to have a million-selling single with her signature song, “I Want to Be a Cowboy’s Sweetheart,” in 1935. With a distinctive yodeling vocal style, she also played guitar and fiddle and was a direct influence on later singers like Patsy Cline, Dottie West, and the currently popular Devon Dawson. Patsy Montana was inducted into the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1996. Broadcast live from the Carnegie Room of the Catskill library. Hosted by Tanya Blue.
