Meant to Ferment: Listening to (Reading) Ferments

Meant to Ferment: Listening to (Reading) Ferments. Rebecca Echevarria (Sep 07, 2026)

Hosted by Rebecca Echevarria.

Listening to (Reading) Microbes is inspired by the book With Microbes edited by Charlotte Brives, Matthaus Rest & Salla Sariola and fermentation manifestos by Mercedes Villalba, the Fervent Ferment Association, and fff|food feminism fermentation.

Music that speaks to the microbial communities of natural wine and ancient DNA of alpine cheese. Multilingual readings of fermentation manifestos with collaborators and family.

Special thanks to Mercedes Villalba for graciously permitting me to air Manifiesto Ferviente, Jemel Ghroum for contributing a wonderful reading of the Fervent Ferment manifesto and to Maya Hey and Tiff Mak of fff | food feminism fermentation for sharing pieces of their fermentation manifesto that was written with Anna Sigrithur on air.

Come join this journey of listening to ferments through texts on the sensory spectrum of human-microbe relations and collective calls for fermentative possibilities.
