WGXC Afternoon Show: Nancey Rosensweig, Amy Rigby, Antonio Delgado, Paul Tonko, Jon Bowermaster, Catskill High Media Summer Camp (Audio)

Jul 30, 2019
Catskill midwife Nancey Rosensweig discusses Columbia-Memorial hospital's recent announcement that it is ending deliveries, and directing pregnant mothers to Albany. Rosensweig suggests the decision may have more mothers in the emergency room, and detailed the transportation problems the decision will cause locally. Also, tune in for the WGXC Congressional Report, tracking last week's activities of Reps. Paul Tonko and Antonio Delgado. Plus, WOOC's Steve Pearce previews the performance July 30 from Catskill's Amy Rigby in Troy. And filmmaker and adventurer Jon Bowermaster talks by phone from Maine with Ellen Thurston and Tom Dipietro. Bowermaster is the producer of "Ghost Fleet," a documentary that tells the stories of a small group of activists and their efforts on behalf of the enslaved fishermen of Indonesia. The film will be screened Aug. 1 at Basilica Hudson, with a live webstream of a discussion with Bowermaster around 9 p.m. at wgxc.org. And an interview with students in the Catskill High Media Summer Camp is included, previewing their film screening at the Catskill Community Theatre July 30.

The show features local news, interviews with community leaders and personalities, a rundown of local and regional events, weather updates, and more about and for the community. Call in to go on the air Sundays through Thursdays at 518-828-2090. Call in Fridays and Saturdays at 518-622-2598 to go on the air. Saturday the emphasis is more on radio art, and art on the radio.
