The celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month continues with a fiesta of rock en español, digital cumbia, tropical futurism, electro-funk y mucho más, with Part 5 of the Latin Music Rocks series. In the second hour, a conversation with Cecilia Villar Eljuri, a compelling songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist. Born in Ecuador and raised in New York City, her towering solos and emotive vocals resonate clearly through her stories of resilience, shelter, our borders, and the planet. Her music is empowering to the Latinx community and all champions of human rights. Eljuri will join us by phone to discuss Reflexión, her highly anticipated fifth solo studio album, scheduled for release on Fr., Sep. 30, with a concert at Joe’s Pub in Manhattan.

Catskill resident "DJ Neva" is an ethnomusicologist, producer, and long-time cultural activist, specializing in music from the entire African continent, as well as the Caribbean and Latin America, the Maghreb and the Middle East, and the Roma (Gypsy) diaspora. Formerly the producer of "Continental Drift" on WBAI-FM and New York International on Haitian community station Radio Soleil in NYC. The show is broadcast live from Catskill, NY.
