The November episode of Between the Lines goes seasonal and regional with an interview of the legendary Jeanne Fleming at her home on the 19th-century Hudson River estate of Rokeby as she finished last-minute preparations for New York City's Greenwich Village Halloween Parade, which she's run since the 1980s. Fleming initiated the genre of celebration arts via a host of giant pageants over the years, such as the 1986 Statue of Liberty centennial birthday celebration. Fleming talks about how her home life spurred her art, and the culture of the greater Hudson Valley. She also discussed preparations for the upcoming Sinterklaas Festival -- taking place the final weekend of November in Kingston, and the first weekend of December in Rhinebeck -- that she organizes as a local gift. Music is by the parade's house ensemble, the Raya Brass Band. Produced by Paul Smart. (Between the Lines host Ann Forbes Cooper is on hiatus.)
