Francine Hunter McGivern, Founder and Creative Director at CR10, discusses the new contemporary arts project in Linlithgo, Columbia County. Under the nom d’art of Jungle Red, Francine Hunter McGivern developed important experimental work in theatre, performance and cabaret as a member of the New York underground from the late 1970s through the 1980s. In 1977 she founded the legendary Jungle Red Studios, an alternative venue for interdisciplinary activities and a focal point for her multimedia installation work. Francine has been credited as one of the Pioneers who contributed to the “Downtown” phenomena that defines many of today’s markets. Through cutting edge events, performance, and high profile productions starting in 1977, “Jungle Red” became a notorious password to the Underground as Warhol defined it.
