In the latest Hudson Valley Word of Mouth segment, Julia Joern visits with Chrissy Traore and Ben Salif Traore, owners of See and Be Kitchen, located on Route 145, just north of downtown Cairo and heading toward East Durham. Chrissy hails from Florida, and is of Italian ancestry (with family in Long Island). Ben is originally from Burkina Faso, a West African country. Together they have married their different traditions and cultures — and love of baking — to put down roots, make a home, and establish a business here in Greene County. Stop by their place for delicious croissants, pizza, and other rustic offerings created both from inside their shipping-container bakery and outside in a giant wood-fired oven. Or find signature items, like their onion focaccia and arborio bread, at specialty shops and farmer's markets throughout the county and beyond. Also, tax breaks given to developers cost school districts nationwide $2.4 billion annually, including more than $10 million in the city of Rensselaer. The school districts hurt the most are often low-income and with high percentages of students of color. Mark Dunlea from WOOC talks with Christine Wen, the author of the report by Good Jobs First. And "This Month in History" from Columbia County's Rob Gelles, is featured. Plus new music from Chris Forsyth, and Kat Sullivan's sea shanty about Gov. Andrew Cuomo's bridge controversy. Finally, listen in on the new rules as marijuana was legalized in New York March 31. Finally, the various police reform proposals made in the Capital District under Governor Cuomo's Executive Order have generally been found lacking by police reform advocates. WOOC's Mark Dunlea talks with Dr. Alice Green of the Center for Law and Justice.

The WGXC Morning Show is a radio magazine show featuring local news, interviews with community leaders and personalities, reports on cultural issues, a rundown of public meetings and local and regional events, with weather updates, and more about and for the community, made mostly through volunteers in the community through WGXC. The Catskill Makers Syndicate produce the "Better Weather" for the show. Rob Gelles produces the Columbia County history segment "Rob Around The County" and "This Month in History" for the show. Julia Joern produced the "Hudson Valley Word of Mouth" interview segment each week. The "WGXC Congressional Report" also airs here. Some reports come from our partner station, WOOC-LP in Troy, out of The Sanctuary for Independent Media. Tom Roe also cuts up local and national news with songs and sounds for the show. At 9 a.m. "The WGXC Daily," with local headlines, weather, and previews of community events, airs. At 10 a.m., national headlines from Public News Service are on WGXC. Sometimes national, state, or local press conferences, meetings, or events are broadcast live here.
