In the latest Hudson Valley Word of Mouth segment, Julia Joern visits Dwight Grimm & Leigh Van Swall, owners of the Greenville Drive-In, located on County Route 32 with stunning views of the rolling Catskill mountains beyond the big screen.

For the past six decades, this drive-in has been a cherished destination for anyone living in or visiting the northern Catskills. When Grimm and Van Swall took it over about six years ago, they re-imagined what a drive-in could be. Obviously it’s a place to watch movies — and their choices lean toward throwback favorites, rather than recent blockbusters — but they have also expanded their offerings to include musicians from the region, a new take on a retro snack bar, and some of the best specialty cocktails around.

They also partner with other creative entities from the area by hosting events for the Woodstock Film Festival, Basilica Hudson,the QWERTY Typewriter and Letter Arts Festival (now in its fifth incarnation, thanks to support from CREATE), open mics, and more recently the ten-year anniversary party for Wave Farm's WGXC 90.7-FM.
