Echolocation: Hudson River Sounds (Audio)
Jun 30, 2022
Produced by Elizabeth LoGiudice.
On this broadcast, we explore scientific research on the Hudson River that uses soundscape recordings and acoustic technologies such as side-scan sonar, a tool inspired by echolocation. The show features excerpts from a lecture entitled Soundscape Indicators of Biodiversity, Ecosystem Function and Human Influences on the Hudson River Watershed provided for the Hudson River Watershed Alliance Breakfast Lecture Series by Aaron Rice from the K. Lisa Yang Center for Conservation Bioacoustics in June of 2021. We also hear a story from naturalist Tom Lake about Atlantic Sturgeon, a massive fish that swims in the Hudson. Music by Trio Kait, Vincent & Vonorn, Kevin Cheli & Tom Law, and DJ T-Rock & Squashy Nice.
