Phil May Birthday Extravaganza. Born Philip Arthur Dennis Wadey 9 November 1944 in Dartford, Kent, May gained fame in the 1960s as the lead singer of The Pretty Things, of which he was a founding member. May has maintained membership throughout the band's line-up, which otherwise underwent many changes over the years, and he was one of the band's main lyricists. He was the primary lyricist for the album, S.F. Sorrow.
I'll be playing a selection of early Pretty Things tracks from the LPs Get The Picture, Emotions, S.F. Sorrow, Parachute as well as BBC sessions, live tracks, non-LP A & B-sides & some Electric Banana tracks. Long-time Pretty Things member Wally Waller and Ugly Things editor Mike Stax both contributed spoken birthday greetings/remembrances. The Bedazzled Radio Hour features Pop, Rock and Soul obscurities from the 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond, including Freakbeat, Baroque Rock, Glam, Bubblegum, Pop-Psych, Sunshine Pop, Garage Rock, Girl Groups, British Invasion, Punk, Funk, New Wave, Northern Soul, and more. Produced by Spike Priggen.
