This is a recording of a weekly vigil held by Godmothers of the Disappeared, a group of local faith leaders and supporters who sing and pray for the safe release of community members who have been detained by ICE. The Godmothers, whose name is a nod to the women-led resistance movement in Argentina in the 1970s, began assembling publicly in June of 2025 in response to the mass immigration raids in Los Angeles. For the past 17 months, they've been meeting on Tuesdays at noon in front of the Metropolitan Detention Center in Downtown L.A.

This recording was made by Jennifer Swann on December 9, 2025.

"The People United," produced by Kalli Anderson, is a recurring segment featuring field recordings, sound art, and non-narrated documentary montages on the themes of resistance, protest, and collective action.
