The European violin was introduced into the Indian subcontinent in the early 17th century. Since that time it has become one of the premier instruments used in the South Indian (Carnatic) musical tradition. And it is also used in the North Indian (Hindustani) tradition This show features two violin virtuosos from each of those traditions: Kala Ramnath (Hindustani) and Jyotsna Srikanth (Carnatic).
