Hosted by Melinda Hemmelgarn.

Picky eating is a common challenge for parents of young children. Children are naturally skeptical about trying new foods, and many go on food jags where they prefer one food for a prolonged period of time. But some children – selective or sensory eaters – exhibit more serious food aversions, and may also struggle with depression and anxiety. Join Food Sleuth Radio host and Registered Dietitian, Melinda Hemmelgarn, for her interview with Nancy Zucker, Ph.D., Director of the Center for Eating Disorders at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Zucker discusses her research on selective eaters, and explains what's typical, what's not and why. She'll also provide practical and compassionate tips for feeding children, cautioning against using threats or force. She also encourages parents to make family meals a priority – they are key to children's physical and mental health. Produced by Dan Hemmelgarn.
