This week, The Deciding Mind attended a conference in NYC entitled "The Effects of Traumatic Stress" commemorating the 9/11 WTC attacks, at which the resulting medical consequences of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) were discussed.
The conference was organized by Rachel Yehuda PhD who joins us to discuss the emerging arena of PTSD biomarkers and the need for people who are suffering from PTSD to get therapeutic help.
Dr. Yehuda is a Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience and the Director of the Traumatic Stress Studies Division at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the Mental Health Patient Care Center Director at the James J. Peters Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
The keynote speaker for the conference was Dennis Charney, MD. We present portions of his presentation centering around PTSD, his work with veterans, and his recent work with Resilience, and his prescriptions for a resilient mind .
Join us this Sunday, 9/16/2012, for a fascinating presentation from one of the world’s leading experts on PTSD as we remember the events of 9/11.
