Today in Nuestra Musica we are presenting the quintessential Latin American romantic song of the twentieth century. Originated in Santiago de Cuba in the 19th century, the traditional Bolero still captivates audiences around the world.

We will be presenting an entire show dedicated to the Bolero, starting with what is considered the first piece written in 1883 by Pepe Sanches titled “Tristezas, and from Cuba to Mexico, Chile, Argentina and beyond. Enjoy the music.

“Nuestra Música,” “Our Music,” presents the rhythms and folklore of Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and Cape Verde. From Tango to Flamenco and all Latinx music in between. The show explores the native instruments, languages, and traditions played in 22 countries and one territory. Other than Spanish and Portuguese, "Nuestra Música" presents songs in Quechua, Mapuche, Guaraní, Nahuatl, Gallego, Spanish Basque, and Catalán. Among many styles we present: Tango, Chacarera, Baguala, Zamba with a Z and Samba with an S, Bossa Nova, Cumbia, Llanero, Vallenato, Merengue, Parrandera, Son, Bolero, Ranchera, Corrido, Marimba, Fado, Flamenco, Sevillanas, Jota, Blues, Jazz, Danzon, Mambo, and many more. The countries presented are Argentina // Bolivia // Brazil // Cape Verde // Chile // Colombia // Costa Rica // Cuba // Dominican Republic // Ecuador // El Salvador // Guatemala // Honduras // Mexico // Nicaragua // Panama // Paraguay // Peru // Portugal // Puerto Rico // Spain // Uruguay // Venezuela.
