Election Day is every day except Nov. 1, through Nov. 2, and not everyone has equal access. Disability advocate Blaise Bryant spoke with WOOC's Sina Basila Hickey about concerns to the disabled community, politicians not doing enough, and what changes he'd like to see. Bryant hosts a podcast at: www.blaisinshows.com. And Lights out Norlite, the community group working to shut down the Norlite Hazardous Waste Incinerator in Cohoes, is offering a Halloween community tour on Oct. 30 to show area residents the plants and surrounding neighborhood. While the weather may cause a postponement, Alexis Goldsmith discusses the current campaign. With Mark Dunlea and Andrea Cunliffe from WOOC. And in the latest Hudson Valley Word of Mouth segment, Julia Joern talks to Tim Cornelison Sr. and Tim Cornelison Jr., the family behind the recently-opened Old Factory Brewing Company in downtown Cairo. Anchoring this small town in Greene County, this historic brick building was originally a beverage bottling plant that was neglected for decades. And now, this father-and-son team has brought it back to life. With a 5,000 square-foot tasting room, a dog-friendly outdoor beer garden, and a long porch bar that overlooks Main Street, this brewery is most notably home to on-site beer making — featuring stouts, IPAs, ales, and an American Kolsch — but also a venue for musical performances, special events, and an ongoing series of fundraisers that support the local community, including the Cairo Town Ambulance Service and the Saugerties Animal Shelter.

The WGXC Morning Show is a radio magazine show featuring local news, interviews with community leaders and personalities, reports on cultural issues, a rundown of public meetings and local and regional events, with weather updates, and more about and for the community, made mostly through volunteers in the community through WGXC. The Catskill Makers Syndicate produce the "Better Weather" for the show. Rob Gelles produces the Columbia County history segment "Rob Around The County" and "This Month in History" for the show. Julia Joern produced the "Hudson Valley Word of Mouth" interview segment each week. The "WGXC Congressional Report" also airs here. Some reports come from our partner station, WOOC-LP in Troy, out of The Sanctuary for Independent Media. Tom Roe also cuts up local and national news with songs and sounds for the show. At 9 a.m. "The WGXC Daily," with local headlines, weather, and previews of community events, airs. At 10 a.m., national headlines from Public News Service are on WGXC. Sometimes national, state, or local press conferences, meetings, or events are broadcast live here.
